The Marlatts Gingerbread House

I decided it would be fun this year to do a gingerbread house now that the girls are getting bigger. My mom likes to do these too! So we did it on Monday for family night, and it was an interesting experience. Derek was getting technical with it (typical male behavior) and I just wanted to slap it together and let the girls decorate it. So what I wanted to be a fun night together turned out to be girls screaming over the frosting , little candy pieces falling all over the floor, and an almost collapsed gingerbread house, but in the end lots of fun memories to laugh about later and the girls really did have a good time and they loved to see what they created. I would recommend this to those with older children and don't do it at night right before bed!! Here is a picture of our finished product. Happy Gingerbread House making!!

Gracie's "School" Pictures

Although Gracie is not going to Pre-School right now I wanted to get a "school" picture of her anyway. I took Abby's picture and Bryanna had school pictures so I needed one of Gracie too!!
This was out in our front yard by the fence. It turned out really good and her eyes are beautiful!! Gracie 3 1/2 years old.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

This is late but I wanted to post some Thanksgiving pictures of the girls making the traditional Kirk/Rushton Family candy turkeys. My Grandma Rushton was a school teacher and she made these with her students and then passed it along at home and through the generations. It's a lot of fun and one of my favorite memories from Thanksgiving.

My "real"turkey turned out great, I could totally do it again!

We definately missed being with family but we hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving anyway.

Some things that I am grateful for this year: My family, my faith, my friends, my health, Derek's job, to live in a free country and to have 3 beautiful/healthy girls. I am always grateful for these things but especially when the Holidays come around.

Happy Harvest

I love Fall!! I especially love Thanksgiving and getting together with family. Unfortunately we won't be with family this year, but we are thinking of all of you and grateful for you in our lives.

We are going to have a small little Thanksgiving here at home with the girls. We will start some traditions of our own and continue some that we grew up with. This will be my first time cooking a whole turkey so we will see how that goes.

Abby's Two!..a little late.

I saw this neighborhood last weekend and they have the most beautiful historic homes and the most beautiful trees with a ton of fallen leaves. I knew I had to get some pictures there so I pulled over on the side of the road today and put Abby in the leaves to take her picture. These were the best that I got. I love it!! I am going to take Gracie there for her pictures!!

I love matching outfits so it was no surprise that I would have to get matching Halloween shirts for the girls. And of course I have to get pictures too! I took these pictures on Halloween in our front yard. I might use Abby's picture for her 2 yr old picture, since JC Penney was a waste of time!!

Happy Halloween

We had a fun Halloween with the girls! As you can tell they were all something different this year. We couldn't convince Gracie not to be a princess so she picked Ariel this year. Bryanna was Violet from the Incredibles and Abby was the cutest Jo Jo's Circus clown!! We went around the block and they got a lot of candy, which half went to work with Derek the next day!! Now we just have to keep the remaining candy out of their reach! We hope everyone else had a safe and fun Halloween. Miss ya'll!!
