Halloween Fun with Friends

The other day we had some fun with our friends the Wolz girls. We had "mummy" hot dogs and "googly" eyes for dinner. The girls made Halloween rice krispies and we painted their nails Halloween colors. It was a lot of fun!! Thanks to the Wolz girls for inviting us!

The Pumpkin Patch

We went to the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday . It was by far the most expensive pumpkin patch we have ever been to, but it was all about the experience. The girls got to pet/feed goats, watch pig races, do the corn maze, and the bounce house. We found 3 perfect pumpkins and had a good time.

Pumpkin Thief!!!

Sometime between 6 and 9:30 pm last night two of our pumpkins on our front porch were taken. I have been really mad about this. Even though it is only pumpkins, they were ours and nobody has the right to come up to my house and take something that isn't theirs. I am really irritated! Our neighbors house got "Tagged" last weekend and I felt so bad for them and then angry about whoever those laim people were that did it!! Losing pumpkins is not as severe as that but has it really come down to not being able to decorate outside for the holidays because dishonest people think they can violate your property and take what is obviously not theirs?? UUGGGGHHHH!!! Now we will be putting our NEW pumpkins on the back porch. I may be totally overreacting but tonight I don't care!

The Duck Poop...I mean Pond!

The other day we were driving around and found this duck pond/park. Yesterday the girls didn't have school so I thought it would be fun to go there. When we got there the ducks were EVERYWHERE but didn't come near us which was good. The girls played on the playground and then we headed over to the pond with some bread for the duckies. As we were walking I kept noticing these "piles" and I realized it was duck poop! The more I looked I could see it EVERYWHERE! It was disgusting. I didn't want to totally ruin it for my girls so I just said to watch out for the poop and hurry up and feed the ducks so we can go. We came out of there pretty clean thankfully, but I will never be going back there again!!!

Soccer Trophy

Bryanna finally got her soccer trophy last night at the team pizza party. Once she heard she was getting a trophy she hasn't stopped talking about it or counting down the"sleeps" until the day. So last night we went to a local pizza place for the party and trophies!! She was so proud when the coach handed it to her and told her she was the most consistent player. When we got home she made a special place for it on her little bookshelf. Nothing else can be there, it stands alone in all it's shiny glory!!

Trunk-or-Treat

Last night was our ward's trunk-or-treat and halloween party. This was our first one here in Nevada. I decorated my trunk but I think I was one of few that actually did. That's okay, I like to be different (sometimes). The girls halloween costumes this year are from our own dress up box. I really didn't want to spend money on costumes this year so we just used our own resources except for a few accessories that had to be purchased. I was proud of myself for not spending the money just for the sake of having something new. The girls had fun and they got LOTS of candy! We will have to get rid of most of it so the "candy monster" doesn't eat it!

PTA

I decided to go to my first PTA meeting last night because I want to be more involved in school, and I cam out being the new PTA Secretary!! I am actually glad to do it and happy that I can be more involved with what's happening at my children's school. That is really important to me as a mom in these scary times. I hope that I can be a good note taker. Wish me luck!!

Soccer!!

Bryanna had her last soccer game of the season last night. She enjoyed playing and maybe she will want to do it again?? She loved to be goalie and was actually really good. She would dive on the ground to get the ball and everything! We had a nice night with a cool sunset. Her best friend Fiona was there playing also so we got some good "model" pictures of the 2 soccer girls! Derek was even able to go to the game with us and then we took the girls out for McD's to celebrate.

1 Year in Nevada

On a hike in Nevada this last spring

This weekend marks 1 year that we moved from Utah to Nevada. We left some good friends and memories and the beautiful Utah mountains to pursue Derek's career with Les Schwab. Although this has been a harder transition for me, I am now able to see some blessings to moving here and am grateful for many things:





-for the friends I have made


-for Derek's steady job


-for our ward family (to which I am grateful as a member of the LDS church to have no matter where I live).


-for the friends my children have made and that they are happy wherever we are as a family.


-for my personal growth (spiritually and emotionally)





Those are just a few that I can think of right now. I have re-learned that I need to have faith in my Heavenly Father and Savior and know that They know what is best for us and that these experiences we have here on this earth are all for our learning and growth. I am excited to see what the next few years here brings us and to see where our life takes us next.

Knock, Knock, Whoooo's There?

Well, when someone tells me there is something cute with owls on it I go in search. Yvonne told me about an owl door mat at Target and so I was on a mission. They didn't have them on the store floor anywhere so after some searching and prodding to the Target employees they found one for me in the back!! Yeah! There were none at any store near me and so I felt really lucky to find this one. Thanks Yvonne for the tip, and they are supposed to get more in so if anyone wants one you can get a raincheck.

6 Quirks about me

1. I am obsessed with owls right now. I want everything owl even though I know it will be a phase and probably go away eventually.

2. I WILL NOT sit on public restroom toilets, even if there is a cover. In fact I put a cover down and still squat!!

3. I pick my lip. I don't know when I started it but I can't stop. When I am watching tv, reading or thinking I pick my lip. I can usually stop before it bleeds. My mom says it's a substitute for sucking my thumb, which I did for 6 years!!

4. I put a movie in just to have noise while I am doing things. Usually it's a movie that I have seen a lot!

5. I load my dishwasher the exact same way everytime, and I unload it the same everytime(i don't know how quirky that is but I'm trying here).

6. At night when we're watching TV I have to sit on the corner of the couch by myself. NO cuddling at this time!

More owls

Just to show you how obsessed I am with owls right now, I went to Target to buy shirts with owls on them for my girls because Jessica told me she saw them there. Also I have recently bought some cute owl fabric that I can't wait to do something with and an owl patch to put on Bryanna's backpack!

On to another subject. We were in the car yesterday doing our errands and this was Gracie and Abby's conversation:

Abby: I am china girl

Gracie: no, you are Abby

Abby: no, my real name is china girl

Gracie: no you're not!

Abby: yes I am china girl

Gracie: for real you're china girl?

Abby: yes

Gracie: are you from china for real?

Abby: YES!

It was very cute and funny to listen to this conversation. I don't know why Abby thinks she is China Girl but we love her no matter what!

Halloween Cookies

We made sugar Halloween cookies yesterday. It's a tradition to make sugar cookie cutouts during the holidays. I don't know if my mom started that or if I just started it with my girls. They love cutting out their own and frosting their own cookies. The rest we are giving away. I can't have all those cookies in my house or the "cookie monster" here will eat them all!!

For those of you who know me well know I like to watch Oprah. As much as I try to give her up I just can't. Anway, yesterday Alicia Keys sang her new song "Superwoman" on the show and it is such a good song about women and what we go through and how we are strong and special. I loved it and Iwanted to share it with all my friends. We as women have to wear a lot of "hats" and we have a lot of responsibilities that wear us down and overwhelm us. But together as friends and sisters and mothers we can help eachother get through it and we need to remember that we are loved and appreciated even if we don't feel like it sometimes. I love you, my friends and sisters. Thank you for being there for me and being such good examples!! We are SUPERWOMEN!

I love finding good deals. I like to check out Goodwill every so often and usually I come away with a something good. This was so cute and I thought it would be cute in the girls bathroom so I purchased it for $9.99. It is a Home Interior piece so it probably cost a lot more. I think it is so shabby chic and just my style!! I might even take the glass out so it's more like a "real" fake window.
I am happy when I find good used things. Yeah for Good will!!!
